    Debra,
Am I wrong or didn’t I read that pharmacy products and food items were a no-no on Amazon. If you say that packaged foods, such as candy, are okay I am going to shoot myself. Just walked away from a whole lot (as in 144) of bags of candy that were within the “sell by” date. Could have gotten for pennies per bag (not stolen).

      Hey Ken…

Pharmacy Products are not allowed (if you need a prescription to get it). These are Over The Counter products. 🙂 Considered Health and Personal Care products.

Food – Of course it’s okay. Just make sure they have a fairly long time before expiration date.

“A product that has an expiration date may be submitted as long as the unit is lot-controlled and the remaining shelf life is greater than 90 days from the time of receipt by Amazon. Units that are within 50 days of the expiration date will be removed for disposal by Amazon. Destroyed units will not be available for return to the seller. ”

“A food or beverage item or a product that is sensitive to temperatures.

Food and beverage products (or units containing food or beverage) and items sensitive to temperatures will only be accepted if they meet the following requirements:

      * Products that can expire must have the expiration date printed on the master carton in 36+ pt font AND on individual/retail display unit. Lot numbers alone are insufficient.

      * Products that are sensitive to temperature cannot be subject to melting (chocolate, paraffin, etc). Temperature-sensitive products must be able to withstand a minimum temperature of 50 degrees and a maximum temperature of 100 degrees for the duration of the product’s shelf life without adversely affecting product quality. Carton markings must not include storage temperature requirements unless expressed explicitly as a range from 50 to 100 degrees. No products requiring refrigeration or freezing are allowed.

      * No perishables are allowed. Food or beverage items may be submitted as long as the unit is lot-controlled and the remaining shelf life is greater than 90 days from the time of receipt by Amazon. Units that are within 50 days of the expiration date will be removed for disposal by Amazon. Destroyed units will not be available for return to the seller.

      * Product must be fully enclosed and sealed in packaging suitable for shipping.

I’m going to save my “my melt” products and sell them “shipped by me” until the weather changes. I don’t want them to melt. LOL

Current categories that don’t need approval:

You can sign-up now to sell items in the following categories: Books, CD and Vinyl, DVD, Video/VHS, Baby, Beauty, Camera & Photo, Electronics, Grocery & Gourmet Food, Health & Personal Care, Home & Garden, Musical Instruments, Office Products, Personal Computers, Software, Sports & Outdoors, Toys & Games, Tools & Hardware, Video Games and Wireless Antennas & Boosters.

      Don’t shoot yourself. Please – I don’t want to be responsible… ROFLOL.

Loving your blog! Hoping to get my first package to Amazon soon. How do you put the expiration date on the packages? On each one and/or the shipping box? What if there are different expiration dates within your shipping box? Thanks!

Do you actually mark the expiration date on the item itself AND the box? What if you have two different items with two different expiration dates? DO you put 2 different expiration dates on the outside of the box?

Hi Alexis… I had to do a bit more research about expiry dates and Amazon FBA.

If a product – food and beauty products – do not have an expiration date stamped on it – It’s not a product that is suitable for Amazon FBA. I have a few of these products and will probably either return to store or sell on Amazon (non-FBA).

A product with just a lot code – is NOT acceptable.

You do not need to mark an expiry date on the outside of case/carton if this is the shipping box.

Please – do not hand write an expiry date. If the manufacturer didn’t do it – then you can’t do it yourself. And… the customers would be freaked out by this.
