Remember the new client I got the “big” check from? This project really is about how to earn money from home. You can read about it here Offline Business Income
I’ve been busy working on this new website for my client and adding all the “bells and whistles”.
The fact that you will have a few “glitches” along the way is just the facts of business.
I’ve had glitches – and I’m working to “resolve” them.
The Good News
The site is up and is about half done:
This site is using the Thesis Theme – (who can live without using Thesis – clients love the professional look)
I paid to have the Logo – Blog Header – and the 3 image buttons designed and installed on the blog.
I also paid to have a bit of customizing done on the theme – colors and moving tabs etc.
I’ve got several articles on the site and one of the “free report email lists” finished.
One of the video’s is done and on Youtube as well.
You can see this progress on this page: Yuma Insurance Health
So far I’ve spent about $400 for this project. I won’t have the total breakdown and final figure for another month or so.
The Bad News
I’m doing this project with as much outsourcing as I can find. I don’t want to get bogged down with doing things I’m not so great at – like logos – video – research etc.
When you outsource – you gamble. It’s just that simple.
The gamble is – you contract with someone that you really don’t know if they are going to produce the perfect product.
Or even if they will “finish” the project at all.
I’m not THAT picky – so it isn’t a matter of “I’m a perfectionist and no one can please me”. Nope – I’m just not that hard to please – and my client loves everything that has been produced so far.
But… what happens when you have contracted out a “boat load” of research and content creation… and the company you hired takes your money and doesn’t finish the project.
And… what if some of the content they send back to you is just below anyone’s standard of professional.
Good Grief... yep – this is what is happening right now!
Here is what you do (what I had to do). I had to pull up my britches and put on my game face.
Simultaniously…
- Scramble to find someone else to finish the project. (check – done)
- Start the process to get your money back. (check – done – check is in the mail)
Never – EVER – leave yourself open to a problem you don’t know how to fix. I’ve got lot’s of people that I know can do the work. I picked one – and when that didn’t work out – I moved on down the list to the next contractor.
The Good News – Again
Everything is back on track. I’m happy – the client is happy – the contractor is happy for the work. The world is a happy place again. (had a few stressful days in between)
Is it worth it? Are you kidding me? I’m going to make a nice chunk of change – because I know how to do this. It’s all internet marketing to us… it’s magic to offline business.
I’ve got more news for you … check back later. :0) Debra

Excellent work Debra!!! I am gearing up to start looking for my first client! There is a lot of money to be made in consulting.
