Just so you know… the Amazonian Profit Plan is not one of those “set it up quick” systems. It’s a ton of work just to do the research.
I ended yesterdays review with this:
Step 3 is next – and it’s going to be lot of work. The first 2 sentences in step 3 spell it out:
The next step involves checking out the competition. This is probably going to be the most time consuming part of the process but the more you do this, the quicker the process will become so stick at it.
Competitive research is always a challenge – and can be mind numbing. I promise to stick “at it”.
I did “stick at it” and finally finished. It took several days of researching specific keywords. Deleting the ones that won’t work and adding in new ones.
You are going to want some way to keep track of the work as you are doing it – and the results. This is too much research and figures to keep track of by hand writing.
When checking out so many details of competing websites – it can get overwhelming. Just take each step as it comes… and ignore everything else that you are thinking about. It’s a process and you should document everything you find. Sometimes it’s an “intuition” thing… really… and you should keep track of your thoughts.
Once you are done with the entire process you will now have a strong path to follow with lot’s of documentation to guide you. You are building your own little how-to guide for each product that you are reviewing on your website.
With the guidelines listed you will can now say “yes” or “no” to each keyword and ditch it if necessary. I had to ditch several and think of new ones to research. It’s long – tedious and frustrating. But… when you get finished… you will know that you are ready to “compete” with confidence.
Free tools are really handy for this process – and the Amazonian Profit Plan has a few good suggestions.
I used my own excel spreadsheet instead of the “cheat sheets” included in the product:
Cool – I’m on to the next step.
Amazonian Profit Plan Step 4: Write the review
I’m sharing the first paragraph in the plan:
The review is what is going to make the sale for you. This is so important and yet most people neglect this bit when they promote Amazon products.Hey, we did the same thing in the past. When we were thinking of the money first and our readers second, our reviews were lacking detail and really didn’t provide enough good quality information.
Even today, a lot of our blogs are still filled with lack luster reviews that provide no value whatsoever. But we’re slowly reworking.
Whoh! Hold on… I’m having a light bulb moment!
I’m sure I’ve mentioned this before – but I purchased this product because of something similar (I read it somewhere) to the statement above in red. I’ve pulled out a few comments from the gals that wrote the Amazonian Profit Plan:
The blog is a few years old now but it really only started to work just over a year ago when we started to concentrate all our efforts into it. It has over a thousand pages of content but only a handful of pages are making most of the money. You don’t need a lot of pages to make the big dollars.
You only really need to concentrate on a handful of pages from your sites – go for the ones that you know already convert and just get as much targeted traffic to them as possible.
Our largest and best converting website gets 1000 – 2000 visitors per day.
Seriously? Over a thousand pages and 1 to 2 thousand visitors per day?
Let me compare that to my “best” and “largest” blog.
- It has 108 posts – I didn’t do any “auto-blogging” on this site so all the content is quality content.
- This blog has 11,000 “unique” visitors per month. That’s about 366 unique visitors per day. 320 of those visitors come from keyword search traffic.
What would happen if I could up the unique visitors to over 1000 per day? And what if I took a look at the reviews that already convert (albeit a very small conversion rate) and they started converting at a higher percentage rate?
Let me step back a bit.
I started using more of these types of product displays over the last month or 2:
These are called “enhanced display”.
I’ve only used them on tightly targeted (very small micro-niche product based) blogs.
I have read in many places that they don’t convert as well as keyword links… but so far in Sept. the conversion has been over 6%.
Yep – that’s not a very high conversion – and… of course they are “low priced” items in comparison to the types of products that you should be reviewing that are recommended in the Amazonian Profit Plan.
The point is that they do “convert” on some types of sites.
It’s recommended that you use in text links for better conversion. And… of course clickable images of the actual products within the review – but not the enhanced display.
I use text links ( a lot) but not many in-text links. I usually link to the product right next to the image. As if I’m saying “buy this now”.
I’ll admit one really big thing here – I sell more items from Amazon that I’ve “never” linked to. And… I never really paid attention to the conversion rate until I purchased the Amazonian Profit Plan.
My actual conversion rate for the product recommendation pages is abysmal. I’ve been lucky I guess. If I can get the reader over to Amazon – I have a chance of making a commission on “something”. That seems to be what’s been happening.
I’ve made a huge decision today. I’m putting aside the “research” I just finished.
I’m not discarding it… it will be used at a later date, so I don’t feel I’ve wasted my time.
I’m taking a look at a different plan of attack
First – I’ll be sticking with “One” blog. I’m going to attack this blog with a vengeance.
- Increasing traffic.
- Increasing Amazon product sales conversions on pages that have sold products.
- Adding new products targeted to this niche – but using the Amazonian way of researching for these products.
This is exactly what the gals that wrote the Amazonian system did. So – why should I be any different?
I am still going to use Step 4 of the Amazonian Profit Plan – How to write reviews.
I’ll be “reworking” the old pages with new reviews. This means I need to go an do more research.
- Look for the keywords that got them to the pages that made sales… what were they looking for?
- Look for new product based keywords that are relevant to this niche.
- Research both to see where I rank now and if I don’t rank high in the search engines – what will it take for this page to get to the top 3 results?
I will also need to research for new products and then go through the steps of keyword and competition research.
Plus – they recommend we spend 80% of our effort on traffic and getting in the top 3 of Google results for each keyword.
The next step (Step 4) is learning to write reviews the Amazonian way. It will be a few days before I get back with the review on this next step. I’m going back to start the “new” research with a plan in place.
This is entirely new way of looking at making money from home. I’m excited to give it a try and see if it will work.
You can read the entire Amazonian Profit Plan review?

I hope you don’t feel like I’m stalking you Debra. Even though I am. lol.
I don’t feel ready for the APP yet, but what a great product. If you’re finding it tricky in places, then I’m sure to get confused. I love knowing that this is here, though.
I’ve placed it in my memory bank 🙂
Christine
Hi again Christine…
No worries (as they say in Oz)… I’ll never feel stalked by you. I’m here to help you!
Nope… knowing you as I do – you are not ready for APP. It is a great product and I’m a happy girl having purchased and put it into use. It works perfectly with my use of Public Domain content. In fact the gals at Affiliate Blog Online are apparently doing this already How To Make Money Using Public Domain Content. Cool beans!
You Will be ready soon. I promise. 😉
Hey Debra, I found this review on the Amazonian plan… LOVE the review so far but I’m wondering if there are any more days that I’m missing… Still sort of new to your site so I may just not be looking in the right place.
Thanks in advance
Kevin
Hey Kevin – If you have read all these http://debraconrad.com/topics/amazonian-profit-plan/ you are up to date. I have fallen off the “wagon” with APP for a while. To many plates in the air. I’ll get back on it ASAP – I promise.
It’s a good – really good product. It was expensive – so I resisted (because I think I know everything… NOT) but it was worth every penny. These gals helped me gain focus and helped me realize what I needed to do to get more profit out of Amazon!
I’m a huge fan of Amazon for affiliate sites… but I was focused (actually not focused at all – really) on the wrong product mix and review style.
Thanks Debra, that’s exactly what I was looking for. I love this review and need to spend some serious quality time on your site. I’m pretty stoked about this system! It’s too late to do anything for Christmas this year but I think I could put up some year round sites at the start of the new year and put a Christmas theme on them next November.
Thanks again Debra, glad that you’re here for us!
Kevin
