If you have a “great” looking website for your consulting business – this is the first step towards showing clients what you can do.

I did set up an entire marketing “system” for my first client FREE! (I traded some services after she saw that it worked and she is
getting new clients because of the website).

It was worth the effort and the expense to “see” if I could do everything I needed to do for a client (outsourcing most of it) and what I
would need to charge. This exercise was an eye opening experience. Somethings are easier than I thought and some of them much more
frustrating than I thought.

The one thing you must remember – Marketing for offline businesses is not JUST about websites. It’s an entire marketing campaign. Website designers
are a dime a dozen. You have to “know” what works for a client.

Let me tell you this – It is Far Easier to market a Hair Salon than it is to market an Insurance Agent. Whewww… good thing I got a big check for the Insurance agent job, huh?

This sounds fantastic! You had all that work outsourced? Now that’s what I’m talking about!

I too am in a place that I feel I need to know how to do it all. I have a possible first new client who’s site needs questionnaires for insurance quotes. I have no idea how to set that stuff up.

Where would you suggest looking for people to outsource too and are you actually going out into your community to network to find business or using the Internet?

I followed along in Maria’s free case study so I have a little grasp on it.

Did you set up a website for your consulting business? I am thinking that might be the best thing for me to do starting out since I won’t have any clients to show off. At least I could do a website to show.

I’ve been reading all over the internet about the same idea that you have. Most everyone feels they need to become more proficient at “tasks”.

I think that it is far more import to know what a client “needs” than “how to do it for them”.

If you can talk about

*lead capture systems
*SEO
*Social Marketing
*Branding

…. and all the other things that “go into” making good online marketing… then you already know everything you need to know.

Another thing…

My first client was a total freebie. Actually – I bartered.

I spent money on doing everything I possibly could to “blow out” this businesses online presence. (Instead of spending it on expensive courses and tutorials).

I learned how much time it took for me to do everything, found all the outsourcing I could, and ended up giving the “client” a very exciting and professional website including a lead capture with 10 autoreponder emails – a free report – and 10 articles. Custom YouTube channel and Video, Custom Twitter, Custom Facebook fanpage, business cards with the custom logo, top listings in the search engines… and I even designed and gave the client 6 coffee mugs with the business logo.

This first “client” has been my “Best” advertising!
