With all the hype on the internet about how easy it is to start a home based business…. and that mom’s can make money in their spare time to help with the household budget…. it’s easy to understand why anyone would be skeptical.

I Was!

A bit of skepticism is a good thing… it prevents you from jumping on the first get rich scheme that you find. I have seen a ton of junk online that make big promisis and never backs them up with hard - cold - facts.

First… you kneed to know who I am… (plus I want to tell you that I don’t sell make money online products).

Sponges, brushes, rags, buckets of paint and step ladders were my “wardrobe” accessories. There were times when I would have some rather strange colored highlights in my hair, and my hair stylist wasn’t at fault.

I’d rather wear comfortable casual clothes than corporate suits any day. So that’s what I do…

I left the corporate rat race about 15 years ago and dove headlong into the custom faux finishes world. As an art student I knew that I would use my creativity as a personal expression of love and friendship.

I never dreamed that I could use this gift to bring beauty and color into living and working spaces.

My passion now is not only paint… but my computer. (ahh… computers, plural)

I guess I got a bit old to be lugging ladders and scaffolding around and my back just gave up supporting my efforts.

So the painting jobs had to be postponed and delayed.

I often painted alone, plugged into my mp3 player while the hours (and daylight) disappeared. I started listening to podcasts about earning money at home from a computer. It was like the proverbial light bulb went on in my head… hey… maybe I could learn to make an income while staying at home.

It did take several years to get the hang of it… but I did. I now only work from home. Well, I take my laptop on the road and work while we are on vacation as well… but that’s another story.

How I Got Started Teaching Others

I used to teach others to paint and this did give me a fun break to the “alone” time. I taught while I am working in a client’s home, so students were acting much like an apprentice. Sometimes we got to laughing and giggling so much that the clients want to sit in the room with us, just to join in the fun.

I usually taught one student at a time on real walls and in realistic painting environments.

Then I needed to come up with an idea for an online business…. a niche.

I was dabbling with websites online… and taking some online courses to get my feet wet… but hadn’t found my niche. I needed some help.

One day I came across an ad that looked something like this…

Now this may sound like hype… but this is where everything changed.

I got all the free material I could from this company… and then when I really felt ready to jump into the world of big time marketing… They helped me find a mentor.

That’s when I got my act together and started to make real money.

They helped me find what I was good at… and turn that talent and passion into a business.

For me… it was making and selling my own line of painting videos. The fact that I had already been teaching all along… and that I could turn that talent into an online business had eluded me.

That’s what is so great about getting a personal mentor or coach. They can see the forest for the trees!

When you find someone who has been marketing online already… and is willing to take time away from their business and help you find your way… and find your special niche… it’s like a weight is lifted. You will be able to see the path to making a nice income… right from your home computer!

Internet Marketing isn’t hard… it does take time, patience and training! Their are bound to be some bumps in the road. Anyone who tells you it’s easy… is full of it.

But… it is possible.

Did you know that it is projected that online business will bring in over 7 billion dollars this year? That’s not money spent in stores… that’s money that people like you and I will spend online… this year!

So… how do people make money online?

That’s where I come in to the picture. Like I said before… I don’t have an internet marketing book or course that I teach. But… I have learned the rules of the game… and they keep changing… from some of the best internet marketing teachers in the world.

I have taken some of the multitude of free information and used it… but it didn’t get me very far. You see… the real information… the good stuff… the stuff that is current isn’t given away for free. Don’t let anyone tell you it is.

You get what you pay for… and free isn’t always best.

Now… I admit… I have been taken in by hype. I have paid out thousands of dollars every year to learn new ways to market products and information. Some of it was very good… and some of it was plain awful. Some marketing gurus try to teach the ways of online marketing… and they have never sold a product…. except a product that teaches you how to sell products. What do they know? Nothing.

The plan is… to help you shuffle through the piles of garbage and find the hidden gems that will get you going with your new business and keep you making money.
