The New Year of 2011 is almost here! What are you doing right now to grow your internet marketing business? Where are you headed?
I’m going to put you to the challenge so make sure you read all the way to the bottom…
I’ve been thinking about my business and where I want it to go (grow) this year. Last year was amazing and challenging… but I need to get focused to grow without burnout.
I’m not going to list out my entire plan right here today… it’s toooo much. And – the plan hasn’t yet taken on a “finished” feel for me yet.
You will watch over my shoulder (so to speak) as I change things up and streamline – gaining focus in my head and focus in just what I should be working on. Ditching the baggage is a huge undertaking and takes some serious thought.
I reached one goal this year… My goal was to make $5,000 in one month. I reached that in November!!! Yeah Me. My new goal is to reach that figure consistently every month. That would put me in the $60,000 a year bracket. After I reach that goal… I can raise my income goal.
I’ve had a shift in goals this year. My “real” goal is not really to make a million bucks (ish). My real goal is to help (drag) more people into reaching their goals. Whatever goals you have… I want to help. I’ve been blessed with my success… yes, I feel I’m a success story… and I want you to feel the same way.
If I can help you focus and reach your goal – while still keeping a roof over our heads and food on the table… Perfect!
While I’ve been struggling away with my “new” plans and goals… I was thinking about what it was like to be a beginner. A newbie Internet Marketer wanting to make money from home. What are all the things that I’ve learned and just “do” without thinking about it. Stuff I’ve learned over the years that a newbie won’t have a clue they even “need” to know.
Many things came to mind. Really – how do you ignore all the online noise and focus on just what you need to learn?
I also interact with many marketers that are “very” experienced and don’t need to learn “newbie” stuff. How will I help them or learn from them? I’m not a one trick pony and I refuse to focus to tightly on one learning method or group.
Whew… can you see that I’m still trying to go in tooo many directions? Where should I put my focus? Who knows… the plan isn’t “fleshed” out yet.
What I did think about over the last few days is this:
If you don’t know how I set up a WordPress blog – Debra Style… you will often feel a bit lost.
And… it’s not just about the Blog Set-Up – but how do you decided on the domain name and hosting? Where do you start and what are the “Right” steps?
I’m not talking about content or choosing a niche. Just the basics of exactly what I do and how I make it easy on myself.
2010 was my year of expanding my Internet Real Estate. I have over 100 domain names and most of them are in use with blogs or sales pages. It was fun and exciting to just go where the “good niches” were and gather in a ton of tiny streams of income.
BUT —- I’m over myself. I can’t continue with so many blogs and domains to keep track of. I’m tired of worrying about where to jump next.
I’ve learned so much this past year about SEO and linking strategies. I’ve become a bit of an expert in this… but it’s not all I need to be doing on each blog. As I’ve said before… streamline and focus is a priority.
I plan to cut back (way back) on the quantity of blogs I own and increase the “Quality” of the content and product reviews. I need to spend less time on technical stuff like building more blogs and spend more time on just a few blogs – doing what I do best: Creating Content and Product Reviews that will help someone make the best buying decision through my affiliate links.
You can bet that I’ll be sharing all my ideas, my progress and my results with you!
Okay… back to the blogging thing and my challenge for you.
First – if you don’t know how to set up a WordPress blog – or if you do, is it set up correctly? If not I have two things you should be doing right now.
- My Blog In A Day goes into great detail about setting up categories correctly on a blog, using the Thesis Theme and filling a blog with great keyword rich content.
- My new (just released Today) WordPress Blog Set Up Made Easy is a step by step (exactly what I do) for getting a blog up and running in one afternoon.
Second – what are your plans for 2011?
Please leave a comment/reply here. I do want to know… or I won’t know how to help you. Make sure you use the Comment Luv linky thing so you get a link back to your blog (if you have one).
I’m here for you…
p.s. I just posted this as a reply on another marketers blog:
In my perfect world I’d like to accomplish 3 things every day… but I’ve been concentrating on making sure I do ONE Important Thing Per Day.
Turn on the computer – don’t check email, don’t go to facebook or twitter, don’t go anywhere online except:
Aweber or one of my main blogs.
Everyday I make sure I either send a great email to my list or write a great blog article that will help others.
Even on my most frazzled days I can usually focus long enough to do ONE thing.
2011 is my year of Focus and keeping my daily to do list at 3 things.
I look at my lists and plans with a feeling of overwhelm. But a list of 3 is do-able.
After I do my ONE important thing – and then check in on email/support/social stuff. I will hit my list of 3.
1. My own Products – either free or paid for.
2. Traffic – build traffic to my blogs
3. Product Reviews – my goal for 2011 is to write better (longer) product reviews. Quality vs. Quantity.
