What Do You Use For Pictures On Your BLog

by Debra Conrad

Do you love to have pictures on your blog? What service or website do you use to find them. Or… do you use your own pictures?

I don’t want to pay for a new image every time I write a blog article.  I have reused a few images – but I’m such a visual person that I do love to find some neat new cool image that is perfect for the article.

I have over 20 blogs that I am actively publishing on so I need a ton of images.  The images available at istockphoto.com are gorgeous – but it seems a waste of money to buy images when other sites have great choices for free.

If I’m writing a product review or adding a recommended product to an article… of course I can use the image from the advertisers website.

where do you find picturesBut I write about things like “Decorating A Country Dining room”… and I’m going to need and image of a country style dining room.

I have used the Photo Dropper WordPress plugin to place Flickr photos (Creative Commons) photos right on my blog.  I love the way it finds and drops a related photo right in for me.

The problem I am having with Photo Dropper/Flickr is the photos are not hosted on my site…. so if the author of the photo decides to delete it from Flickr… I no longer have a photo on my blog.

I would rather spend a few minutes and a bit of extra effort and find images to upload to my own files. Thank You Very Much. :0)

Here is a short list of some of the websites I use for images:

And my favorite Free Image website: http://www.morguefile.com

Interesting about photo dropper. I didn’t know it left the image on Flickr. I didn’t like the interface so went back to searching CC licenses on the Flickr site and doing the download/upload thing.

The trouble with CC though, is that the owner of the photo can change the licensing at any time and leave you in violation of copyright.

I like the public domain option, though. Will definitely check them out. Thanks!
