As a publisher – which is what you are… even if you only have one blog or website – you will be writing a bunch of articles.
Articles for your own blog… of course, but you must also write articles for submission to article directories, hub pages, squidoo lenses, your own newsletter articles and articles as a guest writer for other blogs.
Whew… that’s a lot of writing!
I have (and still do) used a ton of PLR (or Private Label Rights) articles. … and this works fine for some articles. It does save time.
I also do have articles ghost written… which means I hire someone to write fresh new articles for me.
But… one of the best “New” ways I have found to publish new content for all the blogs I need is… Public Domain Content.
I know this may be a very new, and unheard of concept to you. But… it’s the easiest and least expensive way I have found to keep up with the work load. Really!

Okay… now on with more information about Ethics.
The Rest Of The Story – By: Nicole Dean
Recently, in an interview, I was asked “Is it ethical to use private label rights and ghostwritten articles?”
Let me step back a moment and explain… Private label rights (or PLR) articles and ghostwritten articles are used by web owners as a method of outsourcing some of their content.
- PLR articles are packages of articles that are pre-written and sold to more than one person.
- Ghostwritten articles are articles that are written by someone else just for you that you can put your name on and are not sold to anyone else.
In both cases, you are allowed to edit the content as much or as little as you’d like and use the articles on your website, blog, or in your newsletter.
So, back to the question. Is it ethical? My answer was, “usually, yes”.
If you’re using the articles and saying “written by me” without changing anything at all, it may bite you in the butt later, when someone else does the same thing.
Does that make it unethical? Not really. It’s just not smart.
Can you use the article as it is or edited slightly, without saying it was written by you? Of course!
Most PLR packs are written by ghostwriters.
Ghostwriters are professional researchers and writers. If you purchase well-written, informative PLR or ghostwritten articles and share them with your readers, don’t you all benefit? Your readers benefit by getting great information. You benefit by saving time.
Is it any different than hiring a graphic designer or webmaster? Not in my opinion. Heck, most politicians don’t write their own speeches. They leave that to people who are professional speech writers.
Of course, you’d want to only use top-notch articles and not “sell-out” just to pump out blog posts or web pages quicker. We recommend you research thoroughly before choosing any ghostwriter or PLR service.
Here’s what to look for in a PLR service so you don’t waste your money:
1. Make sure the articles are written well.
2. Make sure that you know what topics you’ll receive (instead of some grab-bag of articles).
3. Be sure that the people running the program have some experience in article writing themselves, so they know what they’re doing.
There’s no point in doing everything on your own, especially if you dislike writing. All successful business people outsource the tasks they are not good at or dislike. Check it out. It might take some pressure off you and allow you to spend more time with your kids. And, that’s definitely ethical.

How To Write For Google and Real Live Readers
Just got done having a conversation with a new internet marketer. She has a great looking website and she sells handmade hair bows on her website. She was having a problem with getting people to “find” her website.
These are some of the ideas I shared with this gal:
What cute little “girly” things you have. Sigh… someday I’m sure I’ll have a girl grandbaby to shop for. (fingers crossed)
Anyway… you absolutely must get people finding the pages to shop for your bows directly.
So if I wanted a red and green Christmas bow for my girl… what would I type into Google? It might be “red and green bow” but that would lead me to sites that aren’t really what I’m looking for.
If I typed into Google “Christmas hair bow” or “Christmas hair accessory” that might lead me to more websites that have what I want to purchase now.
If I landed on this page: http://www.littlecansofbeans.com/store/ … sp?One=361
I’m not sure how I would have gotten here or what the accessory really is.
- I see “Featured Product” and “PreMade Red and Green Polka Dot” along with a cute picture of a little bow.
- Now is this a bow for a package? or a bow for decorating? or a bow for a dress? or a bow for hair?
- Why isn’t this bow shown in another graphic in someones hair so I “instantly” know what it is for.
- Plus… The description has a few “features” listed. but nothing that tells me why I should have this bow ordered right now.
- And then you want me to choose “hardware” What??? is hardware and why should I care? Is this a bow to put on a hammer or a screwdriver? Hmmmm.
I’m not trying to be harsh…just helpful. Every page on your site needs to “sell” that product. Plus it should lead me to some other options and ideas that you have on your site. I don’t mean a bunch of links – I mean something like Amazon uses with graphics on everyone of their pages.
Amazon uses something like ” you might also like these” with pictures and short descriptions of several other similar products.
Get the point? Figure out from you analytics or stats which pages are getting the most traffic and/or sales… and start with those pages. Plump them up with products and then get on some forums and start linking to those pages.
Maybe you already know this… but I’ll share with you anyway:
For Google to show your website when someone searches for a “keyword” like “Christmas hairbows” you need to have lots of “words” on your website pages (all pages that are related to Christmas and hairbows). These words need to relate to Christmas and hairbows.
That’s why everyone is suggesting a blog. Because Google loves blogs… and Google Loves websites with lot’s and lots of words that they can chew through and decide what your website is about. Google likes to show “relevant” websites when someone uses them for search.
Wouldn’t “you” like to have your website come up number 1 on Google for every websearch? How will Google know what your site is about if you don’t “tell” them???
Blogging is the easiest and best way to show Google you are the “it” blog for all things hairbows!
So… say you write an article about how your little girl went to a Christmas party. And she wore the cutest little Christmas hairbows to this Christmas party. All the moms were just astonished as how cute your little girl looked in her bows made of Christmas ribbon. They all wanted to know how they could get Christmas color hair bows made for their little girls.
You told them they could go to your website and that they will find lots of styles of hair bows and hair accessories available for really low prices. That you do custom orders and that they can order several styles and sizes all at one time because you have the greatest shopping cart.
See how this one article has all kinds of “benefits” for the busy mom who wants to find something really cute for their girls hair? And you have pictures and a link to the page where they can order the product they want right now? See how helpful you are and how easy you made it to find just what this busy mom wants?
Get it? Good… now go and write lot’s of good stuff!
Free Online Blog Affiliate Income With Squidoo
I’ve been sidetracked – Again! It happens. It’s the dreaded disease of Affiliate Marketers… we get distracted by the bright shiny objects (Something New To Try).
I’ve tried to ignore it… but now I’m embracing it. If I’m productive and creating content that will eventually be one of my affiliate income streams… then why not?
I’m a Squidoo Junkie… I’ve said it out loud. I build Free Online Blog “Lenses” with Squidoo and add affiliate links to make some of my affiliate income.
I’m a big fan of Tiffany Dow. She has been a great influence on me this year. I’ve watched her grow and change her business direction with great interest.
Ever since I got my hands on her Squidoo package I’ve been stewing about creating new Squidoo Lenses. I do have an account (now I have several accounts)… but I am hesitant to put original content on a page I don’t “Own”. This is something I learned long ago…
Don’t Put Your Energy Into Websites You Have No Control Over!
I’ve changed my mind! Yep… at least partially. Because this “Squidoo Affiliate Marketing” Thing seems to work. I checked some of my affiliate income stats… and guess what? I’ve been consistently making sales from my poor – under-developed Squidoo lenses. Surprise!!
The Squidoo pages I usually create are for “evergreen” products. Things that someone would be looking for all year. I’m now getting a few new ideas from Tiffany about creating specialty groups of lenses (blog articles) focused on Holidays.
Tiffany includes a book in her Squidoo package (Her main product is about Social Networking with Squidoo) about “Building and Flipping Squidoo Lenses“.
I’m not interested in spending time developing Squidoo blogs and then flipping them.
I would rather make the affiliate income myself… thank you very much. But!!! She teaches a very special way of building lenses that makes the entire process easy and logical.
Now… when I look at my old lenses (that I have made sales from) I wonder why I made sales. They look pretty bad and not what I would consider a site that creates an urgency to purchase.
What would happen if I used the Tiffany Dow method?
I know it’s late for Christmas sales… but I’ve been lax over the years at buiding up anything that will create some Christmas income.
Every year I say I’m going to do Christmas Marketing… and I never get very far. Squidoo is freeing my brain up to focus on just that type of marketing… and I’ll be more prepared for next year.
Here is the Squidoo Lens I created tonight… I’m getting better.
One of my ideas for creating new “Evergreen” Squidoo pages is to include Public Domain content so the search engines will have lot’s to chew on and I don’t have to write everything from scratch.
I completed one Squidoo page several days ago by using some Public Domain articles:
This is not a product specific Squidoo page… it’s an “over view” page. Then I will start to build more product specific pages and link to them. This works really well if you also have your own WordPress blog to link from/to.
So far I’m changing my views… a bit… about using Free Online Blog platforms for Affiliate Income. I’m still stuck on the idea that we all need to have websites that we own… Don’t put all your eggs in one basket!
