Marketing MakeoverLast year I participated in one of Alice Seba’s Spring Cleaning marketing makeovers. She no longer teaches this class… but you can get lesson one pdf and mp3 audio Free!

This coaching course was one of the most enlightening and “needed” courses I’ve ever been involved in.

First… let me just say… when you purchase a coaching coarse and are held accountable for completing the tasks… it really works!

Of course – you must always be self motivated… coaches don’t generally smack your knuckles with a ruler if you don’t do the work.

Second… this is not a “One Time” task. I’ve learned that I must do this “Spring Cleaning” of my business on a regular basis. My complete makeover was completed last year – so it’s time to do it again. I’ve joined up for the Free 31 day Internet Marketing Makeover by Michelle MacPhearson just to get a daily “to-do” list.

I think this is so important – So I thought that I should share the details of my makeover with you!

If you seem to have piles of projects… to the point of overload… this will definitely be an important exercise for you.

  • If you feel that you are a little (or a lot) bit overwhelmed and don’t know where to begin to get out of the hole…
  • If you know you are not earning as much as you could from your sites….
  • You should be doing more lead generation and email marketing….
  • You have too many projects and not enough time…
  • You’re spending too much time on administrative tasks and not enough time growing your business…
  • You sometimes get to the end of your work day and realize that you really haven’t accomplished anything…

Then it’s time for you to do your own Marketing Makeover.

So… What is a Marketing Makeover?

It’s all about taking all the bit’s and pieces of your business and creating a lower-maintenance, higher-profit business.

You take an inventory of all your assets (and liabilities) in your online business. You may think you know it all… but you will be amazed at the “insight” you will get when you see it “ALL” laid out on one graph.

What are business assets? Things like:

  • domain names
  • websites
  • autoreponder series
  • software/membership
  • etc.

Not only will you need to list them all – but you must dig deep and understand where each project is in development, how it’s performing, and how it fit’s into your overall business plan.  How much does each of your websites make? How much does it cost? What projects do you need to complete?

We all must get our “ducks in a row” for the New Year. Let’s all make 2010 the best year yet.

I want to clear out all the crap, time wasters and things that don’t make good business (profitable) sense.  Michelle has graciously provided us with a spreadsheet to fill in. This makes it easier to get started… because we can just fill it out and edit as we need.

Some of the topics that will be covered in this “Part Deux” Makeover are different than I did last year. I will be going even deeper into my Marketing goals and finding all the gaps I’ve overlooked. This is very cool… I want to run a tight ship!

How Do You Stay Connected – Cross Blogging With Dan Reinhold

By Debra Conrad On November 10, 2009 No Comments

This Cross Blogging with Dan at WAHumor.com has been fun.  Cross Blogging is easy to get started with some like Dan… just ask a few blogger types on a forum if they are interested.  Blogger’s are always  looking for something new to write about and Cross Blogging stirs up a boat load of new topics.

wahumor

Dan asked me about staying connected.

Connections are everything these days, or so all the experts real and imagined like to say. What are your favorite ways to stay connected and why?

Skhrrrtttt… (that’s the noise my brain makes when it comes to a screatching halt).

Stay connected? Is that like “stay in touch”? Or – “call when you have time”?

I’m the worst at staying connected. In fact – all my friends and family know they will have to leave a message on the answering machine to talk to me.

  • I do love email.
  • I am good at text messaging.
  • Love to Chat.
  • I really like to tweet when I have time.
  • I have patience with forum conversations.

That’s “MY” version of staying connected.

I can reach out and start a conversation with almost anyone – as long as it’s via email. What are they going to do? I’ll either get an answer or I won’t.  It’s the phone calls that paralyze me at times. I don’t want to “hear” the tone of someones voice when they are blowing sunshine.

Once I got a “QWERTY” keyboard style cell phone… look out! I was armed and dangerous.  It seems odd for a Baby Boomer aged gal to need text messaging and Twitter by phone – but I don’t know how to survive without it.

I can chat on Skype with more than one person at a time. It’s fun to get the little pop-up that says someone “needs” to talk to me Right Now!  What I love about using Skype chat (or any chat) is that I can continue to work while I chat… and when I need to get “off the phone”… I can just say TTFN.  ;)

When Twitter first came on the internet “scene”… I didn’t see a need for it. Then – I started working on Ed Dale’s TDC and I got hooked on Twitter.  I was spending too much time with conversations that made me laugh and smile… but didn’t help me get my work done. I learned from Alice Seba how to curb my addiction.

My name is Debra and I’m a Twitterholic.

I’ve had to reform. I went cold turkey for a few months… and now I’m slowly stepping back into Tweeting by my tippy toes.

Some of the best connections I’ve ever made have been on forums. I’ve had chat’s with dozens of like minded “Geeks” on my two favorite private forums… Kelly McCausey’s  MomsMasterminds and Lynn Terry’s Self Starter Weekly Tips.

I’ve spent time on public forums and learned a lot… but the powerful – kick in the pants – brainstorming and idea generation that goes on behind the membership areas of forums is amazing.

About a year ago – I was having a “chat” with Alice Seba. She was coaching me through a trouble spot and I asked her quite innocently… “Where can I go to talk with people like me”.  (People like me ie: People that are not new to internet marketing but are not so “hot” about themselves that they don’t want to share).

She said ” Haven’t you ever heard of Mom Masterminds? Where have you been?”  I don’t know Alice – outer space?

Then… several months ago… I was listening to a Nicole Dean podcast and she recommended Lynn Terry’s Self Starter Weekly Tips forum.

Did I really need to join another membership?  I thought not.  But… I was wrong. I was chatting with a few gals and they were thrilled with the SSWT forum. They started telling me the things they were involved in on that forum… which are totally different than what I was learning on the MM forum.

So… yep… not wanting to be left out… I joined SSWT private forum.

Long story – Not so short – that’s where I met Dan of WAHumor.com and we started this cross blogging “Chat”.

Vote Suzanne Franco Become the Next Blogging Idol!

By Debra Conrad On November 4, 2008 1 Comment

Today has been a busy day… I’ve joined up with some really great “women” online. I’ll bet you want to know exactly where I’ve been and just what I’ve been up to???

I’ve heard about Twitter Moms for a while… I even saw some “tweets” about Warren Whitlock (my Blog World Buddy) wanting to join. Now… he just loves to join anything that will even remotely put him within a group of smart women. (He is nooo dummy)

So after joining in… I start getting some emails that people are making comments on my page at Twitter Moms. What’s up with that? So being the curious girl that I am… I of course go check it out.

Debra Conrad on Twitter Moms

The first one I see is from Suzanne Franco ~ the Next Blogging Idol. So I click over and find that she is trying to become The Next Blogging Idol . What is the Next Blogging Idol??? Well Suzanne is on a quest to earn the title of “Blogging Idol” in the second ever Blogging Idol contest held by Daniel Scocco on his blog, “Daily Blog Tips.” The contest will run from November 1, 2008 through November 30, 2008.

Here is another description of the Blogging Idol Contest by Suzanne:

“It is a contest hosted by Daniel Scocco, Daily Blog Tips, where contestants compete in three categories: (1) Increase in RSS subscribers, (2) Voting by the Readers (that’s you), and (3) Votes by 3 judges (Daniel Scocco, Daily BlogTips; Ricky, Keyword Country; and Jarrod, Sponsored Reviews). They will each cast their vote for the contestant who uses, “the most clever and effective strategy for gaining RSS subscribers and for promoting the blog.”

And if anyone will write a blog post similar to the one your reading right now… Suzanne (being the generous gal that she is) will “give” you some great “stuff” in return. Really! You should not miss this opportunity to help Suzanne and she will be helping you in return! How cool is that? Here is where you get all the details to Help Suzanne Franco ~ the Next Blogging Idol.
