I see a lot of confusion when it comes to selling toys on Amazon.com. One of the biggest “confusers” is the question of being Approved.
Yes… Amazon does have some restrictions – and they are very clear. But “newbies” will still get confused. I hope this clears up a bit of the confusion.
You can read the entire Amazon Holiday Toy and Game Guidelines here.
You “Do Not” have to be approved to sell toys on Amazon.com if you have an FBA Account.
If you sell Toys and Games on Amazon using the FBA program – you don’t have restrictions! (If your account is in good standing)
The following statement only applies if you are fulfilling sales on Amazon yourself (You ship the items from home):
Sellers will be notified in early to mid November if they are eligible to sell in Toys & Games. Effective September 19, 2011, no new sellers will be approved to sell in the Toys & Games store until the holiday restrictions have been lifted. “
Also – one other thing to consider. Don’t try to “start” selling toy’s on Amazon.com (FBA or not) in November – December. You need to have been a toy seller starting NOW.
Why? Because Toys sell all year!
When Should I Ship Toys To Amazon FBA?
I asked Jordan Malik over at FBAFinds.com what he thought about sending in Toys, Games and Products of any kind during the December rush.
He suggested that if I was planning the products to be hot for the Holiday Sales – to get them shipped early. Before November 15th would be my goal.
If these are products – Toys or any other category- that I don’t have a specific “Holiday Hot Seller Feel” about – they are just good ROI (Return on Investment) products – I should just ship when ever. So I can ship even during the holiday rush knowing that:
- They will take longer to arrive at the FBA warehouses.
- They will take longer to be checked in and available for sale on Amazon.com
- They may be products that sell quickly – or products that don’t start seeing sales until January.
Toys and Books “were” the two categories that I was NOT going to be involved in when I first started my journey selling on Amazon.com. This was a silly-stupid notion that I’ve since altered.
Why? Because Toys – Games – and Books are top selling categories on Amazon.com. When I think of buying a book or a toy – the first (and usually the last) place I look is Amazon. Why shouldn’t I be selling them as well?
My sales have proven this to be a good mind set for me.

p.s. I started selling on Amazon in May of 2011 with just a test of a few products and was blown away by my success right off the bat. – Of course – I’ve now had some failures to match up with the successful parts and I’ll be sharing all of that with you.
