Resuscitate Old Blogs Back To Making Money

I’m always so anxious to start new projects – and often this means I am neglecting old blogs.  The original ideas for the blogs were that I add new fresh content – Often.

What happens when you loose interest – or forget – or don’t have time to work on a variety of blogs in a variety of niches?

Over the years I’ve tried several solutions including auto-blogging, ghostwriters, VA blog article insertion, PLR with spinning and rewriting.  They all cost me more money and time than the blogs were making (income).

Often – it’s suggested that we “dump” the excess and concentrate on the money makers. Shoot – I will advise this very scenario.  About once a year I go through my Spring Cleaning chores and weed out blogs that I’ve never really done anything with.

The issue is “What do I do with the blogs that I have spent time and money on”?

Of course I could sell these old blogs… but until they are showing profit potential – I won’t be getting any large sums of cash for them.

In my quest to Retire at 50(ish) I’ve been working on systems, products and marketing that will bring in the retirement income consistently – BUT – Will NOT require me to be in constant “Work” mode. The current state of our retirement will probably require hubby and I to both work at “something” until we drop. Really – I can’t see why we wouldn’t – we love to work – just not ALL the time.

Last night I spent a very late hour watching some Video on Tiffany Dow’s blog.  She has found this WP Robot plugin that I thought was a big fat waste of time and money. Something I’m reluctant to do – is waste money on things I can’t use Right Now!

Blogs require a few things to stay Alive.

  • New Anchor Text backlinks every so often.
  • New “fresh” content updating on a regular basis. (Not something I can ever keep up with)
  • The Word Press system needs an overhaul (manage plug-ins -updates – comments-broken links) every so often.

I refuse to automate backlinking. I’ve tried that… that will get your blog de-listed quickly. (PITA) I can outsource backlinking to a VA – cost could be prohibitive.  And really… old blogs don’t need many new backlinks to keep them fresh.

I can outsource the System Overhaul. I have a VA that can take care of that. I had that in place for about a year… and wow! Can the cost of that rack up!

The Fresh Content For Blogs is the big Kahuna. I’m a big user of Public Domain content to fill my blogs. I use it often and it works like a charm. But… (always with a But)… I still have to find the public domain content and rewrite it so it says what “I want it to say” every time I need to add new content.

Can you see the problem? I’m back to “working” instead of these little oil wells of income just producing without any hands on input from me.

Back to the video on Tiffany Dow’s blog… she was not only reviewing the WP Robot Plugin – she showed how it was helping her blog get top rankings.  Peak your interest? Yeah… me to.

You can read what she has to say about WP Robot  here—> WP Robot

But- the WP Robot costs money!  Which was why I hesitated when she first talked about it over 2 weeks ago. Plus – two weeks ago – my opinion was “another automated thing that will get me banned from Google”.

So Why Has My Opinion About WP Robot Changed?

I can continue on the path of fussing about these old blogs… or I can spend a few more bucks and give WP Robot a try.

Note – The blogs I’m talking about are NOT blogs that are already making nice money every month. Nor… are these blogs my Expert blogs.  Big difference in blogs that are just online to make affiliate income and blogs that you use to connect with the readers.  Some blogs are updated often… have a regular fallowing… and have large mailing lists related to them.

Another Note - I’ve been working on several projects at once over the last 3 months.  Some of them will “Eventually” make me some nice income streams. Eventually.  I’m working on all these “Eventual” income streams all at once.  The problem… I’m not increasing my income right now! That is why I had this big epiphany last night.

These projects still need to get done. I’m on overload with them right now… not a good time to be creative. I need a break.

One of the Best parts of the WP Robot – It not only will be adding fresh “quality” content to the old blogs… but the content is a mix of articles and Product Reviews with Affiliate Links. Now what could be wrong with that?  It’s just what the doctor ordered.

I feel like I’m in the Emergency Room with Paddles In Hand. Clear!
