Find Long Tail Keywords With HitTail

Many of you may already have a website or two. If you do… you need to have a system that allows you to Find The Long Tail Keywords that are being used to find your site.

This will be invaluable information in the long run.

The very best tool for this is Hittail.com. I am sure there are lot’s of options on the market for keyword tracking. I have used Hittail.com for a while and the information is easy to see and track.

One of my older websites has generated over 35,000 keywords. Hittail.com has all of those keywords recorded. I just download the list to a spread sheet and then when I am ready to write articles on a specific topic… the find feature gets all the keywords I could ever need.

Why do I think this is so important?

I’m letting you in on a little secret. I found a niche idea (from Hit Tail results) that I implemented on one blog.  That one blog brings in over $200 per month. Every Month.  And has been for over two years… and I don’t expect it to do anything but increase in income as I grow the blog.

The income is strictly Google Adsense and a bit of Amazon sales commissions.

This lesson is based on one tiny set of keywords found by Hittail.com.

The story starts with one of my websites.  This blog is about 3 years old and a little over two years ago I wrote an article for this site that gave me some interesting long tail keyword results.

The website is a Travel based niche site. Interestingly, the article I wrote was about a trip I took and while on this trip I went on a home tour. The home tour is an annual event for charity… and the tour is of homes that have been decorated by top industry designers. The tours have nothing to do with Travel.

In this one article, I used a phrase several times… the phrase has to do with remodeling a particular style of home.

What is so interesting??? This phrase is a keyword that gets picked up in Google search often. The people that are coming to this travel site are surly disappointed with what they find when they think they are coming to a remodeling website.

So… I had been rolling this keyword string around in my “tiny” brain for some time. I even called one of my mentor’s to help me figure out what the searched keyword could possible be used for… guess what? He was stumped as well.

Finally, I have decided just start a blog with this long-tail keyword as the domain name.

I knew that this keyword phrase was good.  But… it eluded me as to what someone would want to buy.  Every time someone uses these keywords they are looking for an idea or help.

It is not a “buying” keyword. It’s more of a “how to keyword”.

Most “Guru” types would tell you not to bother working in niches that are not geared towards a buying experience. I’m not wired that way.

I like to build blogs that are targeted to the “How Can I Do This”? keyword phrases. If I can help them a little with an article and entice them to sign up for my newsletter – Great.

If that reader then clicks out of my blog through and Amazon link or and Adsense link… Even Better!

And – It’s easier for me to find Helpful Information to put on my blog than to write my own product reviews.
