How To Remove Stickers For Amazon Retail Arbitrage

by Debra Conrad

I’ve been working on streamlining my Amazon product work flow… and removing stickers is one of those things that will drive you nuts.

All the stuff I get from the thrift stores have very sticky stickers and lot’s of packing tape which all needs to be removed before sending it in to the Amazon FBA warehouse.

Most of the stuff I buy on clearance and at stores like Big Lot’s has multiple stickers and they are stuck on tight.

Nothing makes this job super fast… it’s just a fact that you have to do it and it’s going to take a bit of labor.

I’ve heard that lighter fluid is magic for removing stuff… and I’m going to get some to try it. But I think the smell might be a problem. *giggle*

I use Goo Gone and I use a heat gun type tool and a lot of elbow grease.

One of the very best tools for sticker removal is the Scotty Peeler. You will see in the video below that I resisted buying these because I’m just plain lazy. Oh… how I wish I’d purchased these inexpensive little tools sooner!

In this video I show you exactly how I remove tape and stickers (labels) from all the products I sell on Amazon (make sure to leave you tips in the comments section below):

Thank you, Debra. Your tips are very helpful, especially the scottie peeler. I sell books. CDs, and movies and often the stickers are hard to remove.

Hi Terry… Those stickers can be a pain in the neck. And don’t get me started on the tape Goodwill uses to seal the boxes of games. 8) The peeler is a life saver.

Hi Debra!
What type of heat gun do you use to remove the tape?

Hi Karen… I use an embossing tool heat gun. I found them on Amazon for under $20. You can also find them at craft stores.

Excellent video. I have never heard of the sticker peeler tool. It looks like would really save the thumb. You pointed out some things in this video that I really never gave much thought about. Thank you for the info.

Thanks for the video. I have been dragging my feet getting the Scotty peeler also, but I am tired of messing up my nails also so I will be getting them. Thanks again for taking the time to make the video. It was helpful.

Rebecca… I don’t know why we drag our feet! I guess we are all procrastinators on some things. LOL Scotty peelers are “da bomb”!

Hi Debra,

Another option is to put your own sticker on over top the existing sticker, with an advertisement for yourself / store / products :-)

Oh noooooo Joseph. You can NOT advertise anything of your own on products you sell through Amazon. That will get you shut down super quick and Amazon will never let you sell again.
