Holiday Niche Blogs For Year End Income

by Debra Conrad

Trying to keep all the dishes spinning has been a challenge. I like that I have so many projects to work on – it keeps me interested and gives me choices of what I want to work on each day… but I can see that some of my goals for finished projects are not getting completed in the time frame I hoped.

It’s not a big deal… I just keep chipping away at the list.  :)

I really wanted to be finished with my Halloween marketing plan by now… and I’m not nearly finished. Of course – my plan keeps growing. I’m having so much fun and keep coming up with new ideas… fatal flaw of all Internet Marketers.

I’m a bit skittish of the Halloween and Christmas markets because I know they are usually not hot markets all year long… just the holiday season. I’ve been lax at actually taking the plunge into these markets – and yet every year I know I was leaving money on the table because I was not aggressive in these two seasonal markets.

This is the year I want to actually go after some of those holiday sales.

I’m using the IPK plan for Christmas Marketing ( Info Product Killer is set up with a Christmas Marketing Plan and a Year Long Marketing Plan).  In this plan – I just replaced the word Christmas with Halloween (in my head) and am following the plan as close as possible.

Last night I went back into the IPK membership and re-watched some of the video’s on the difference between creating a “mother” site and all the “baby” sites.

Note - Yes – I’ve heard about the Warrior Forum and that some have said that IPK is old and outdated.  The funny thing about that is other top marketers are still using the systems spelled out in IPK to build tiny micro niche websites.

I watched a video yesterday from James Jones about Micro Niche Finder (a new version is coming out next week with some great upgrades).

This video was about an hour long… but I got 2 tiny little nuggets of info from it that didn’t have a thing to do with the MNF tool.

1. James Jones showed a site that he put up around Jan. 2010.  It’s built on the same principles as a “baby” site (as shown in IPK).  He said that it makes him about $30 a month.   That’s $400 a year… for one tiny site that you never really have to do anything more than set it up and get links to it.

2. Another little bit of info that was just barley spoken about… as in one brief sentence… relates to eBay.

I have totally gotten out of marketing anything related to eBay. It seemed so similar to Google Adsense that I thought it would be a waste of time.  Now… I’m rethinking.   In fact – over 1/2 of that $30 a month on James Jones tiny site comes from eBay.

I went over to the eBay affiliate area and checked on the tools and how the system was set up (I’ve not looked at it in over 2 years).  I could see how James had implemented just one easy – but really eye catching call to action on the site. It’s different and perfect for my Halloween and Christmas “baby” sites.  I’m going to give it a try.. and if it really does work – I’ll tell you what it is and show you what works for me.

Halloween and Christmas niches have one big draw-back for me.  It was hard for me to figure out how to use my Public Domain content skills – which is a huge problem for me.  (I am the Public Domain Diva)  I finally got an idea… (don’t laugh – it happens every once in a while) that I can easily and quickly work with.

So… I’ve got the Halloween “mother site” built (the big index page)… and I already had a few “baby” sites done.  I’m in the process of posting the internal pages on the “mother site” ( that pertain to the “baby sites”)  finished up.   I want to finish that up and then work on more “baby sites” for Halloween.

As far as the Christmas sites go… I’m actually going to build 2 (Yep – TWO) Christmas related IPK style “mother sites”.   One for toys and gifts  and the other is for party planning and decorations.  I’ve got a bit of content on one – so it’s starts aging and indexing… and the other needs content… it still says “Hello World”.   *giggle*

So – that’s my Holiday Marketing Plan – I’ll try to keep you updated on the progress.

Oh – and I’m “Still” working on my new product - “Twice Loved Content”..  I got side-tracked.  It happens to all of us… now I’ve just got to get that plate spinning again.

Hey Judy…

I finally have 4 sites up for Halloween. They are not perfect – but they will do for this years test. Yesterday – I sold my first costume directly related to one of these sites. It will be interesting to see what happens. Traffic is picking up on these sites… not a huge amount – but I’m not working on building a huge campaign either.

My goal is to have these 4 sites prove that the profit vs. time/cost invested was worth the effort.

3 of the sites a tightly targeted to specific costumes that will “not” be evergreen for years and years. I realize now – probably a mistake. Should pick costumes that are “evergreen” – more of “lady bug costume” instead of “toy story related costumes.

The 4th site is the “mother site” – as per Info Product Killer teachings – and it will be evergreen. Something I can build on year after year. This is the site I used public domain content as well. It’s much harder to get traffic to a “generic” site… so this is the site I will need to work on building links and getting more traffic.
