Christmas IPK Sites Christine Is Working On

by Debra Conrad

I love IPK (Info Product Killer) and I think Christine is making great progress learning all the tips and tricks that IPK teaches for Christmas affiliate sites.

I gave Christine a huge long list of things I though she should be working on…  and she has been plowing away through the list. Baby steps.

Christine is going to pull her hair out today… I have another list!

Starting with Battery Powered Candles site (it’s a baby site – an IPK term)  which had (has) some things that needed fixing.  This is all part of the learning process. :)

The header and sidebars looked “messy”.  So after a bit of fiddling with widget text and altering the header graphic – the site looks a bit cleaner.

This candle related niche is really an evergreen niche… so after the holidays – Christine can change the Christmas Graphics header to look more generic.  This is one of those sites that will make passive income (PDF file) all year long.

Christine did add in a call to action graphic (taught in the IPK strategies) – Good Job! (Peter – her hubby – helped big time!)

I thought the call to action was for a product that would not be a bestseller for her (just my opinion).  The call to action graphic was also inserted into a blog post that had nothing to do with the graphic.

We moved the graphic to a related blog post – and then inserted a new call to action graphic in a widget so it always shows right under the header graphic.  (see the image up higher)

We also added in a Google Adsense Graphic in the sidebar – which is pulling in a Flameless Candle Advertisement – Perfect!

I’m not “in love” with this theme – for several reasons:

  • The links aren’t blue
  • The code (it’s a freebie theme) isn’t clean.
  • The little boxes that highlight tags, categories and such… are annoying and messy.

Christine could fiddle with this theme and end up making a mess.  I would suggest she switch over to Thesis Theme (My Favorite) after the new year.

I would like to see Christine move the “legal” pages to the footer and get her disclaimer inserted as well.  Something easy and similar to what she did in the Hogwarts Castle Lego site:

Hogwarts Harry Potter Lego Castle

This image is hard to see… you get the idea. Click on the image to see the full blog and scroll down to the footer.

Christine also needs to keep a close eye on her email.  When a site starts to get close to it’s bandwidth limit… you get an email!  Unless you “up” the bandwidth limitations in your hosting account… your site could go down. :(

I’m only going to critique one of Christine’s IPK style sites at a time. It’s easy for her to get overwhelmed and I want her to concentrate on content and getting inbound links.

This Candle Niche website only has ONE inbound link – and it’s from this DebraConrad.com site.  So I need to slap Christine with a wet noodle.  I also checked the stats and her site has lot’s of traffic (relative)  but it’s all coming from readers of this blog. :)

Christine is excited because she made a few Amazon sales and a fit of Google Adsense Income:

IPK Amazon earnings

These are Lego Brand Items – 7 sales – and she made $8.09. Christine has sold enough items to bump up the commission rate to 6% .

Next – I’ll show you where Christine is offering products that give a much higher commission rate.  I love the Amazon affiliate program… but they are not the “Only” game in town!

p.s. If you still haven’t jumped into the Christmas Affiliate Game – Don’t worry.  Info Product Killer teaches strategies to use all year ’round. It’s a game changer in Affiliate Marketing.

I’m bald already! Just from reading this. Those wet noodle slaps obviously don’t work, so find something else to use. lol.

Oops! I thought I’d done all the legal things on all the sites.

I did get my bandwidth notification for a couple or more sites (inc. the one mentioned) and went in and fixed them so I don’t know what happened there. I’m keeping a close eye and even if I’m dog tired and about to close down for the night, if there’s an email about bandwidth I’m right there fixing it. Baffled!

I’ve got a full day out of the house today :( so ‘homework’ will have to be continued tonight.

Shall no doubt be shooting you some more questions. I knew the ‘call to action’ was in the wrong place. Thanks. It looks much better of course.

You go, girl. At least by reading about you making headway lets me see that someone is making it. I am still reading the first book in the PDTH Kit.

@Grandma Marilyn. Thanks so much for all the tweeting with my sites this morning. Wow!

I’m dismayed that I haven’t been reading my PDTH. Any spare moment I’m doing homeworky (new word) things. Well, with a bit of FB & Twitter thrown in, all business related of course ;)

Of course. Just keep on going. You will get there. Glad you are catching on to all the things that you need to do. Make yourself a little chart that shows you in what order you need to do the things and you won’t forget anything. That is why I take so many notes so that I will remember everything. I will put my notes on a word document and make bookmarks so I can find the appropriate area on the document to help me remember some of the enormous amount of information.
