Christine Is Stuck Already!

by Debra Conrad

So funny to wake up this morning to an email from Christine telling me she was “Stuck Already”.  Why is it funny? Because I know Christine already knows how to do this “stuff”… she is just trying to be a pain in my backside.  :)

Kidding!

This is the email:

Stuck already. lol

So do I go to Amazon and find for eg. Christmas party supplies or Christmas party games and do a write up or do I just waffle on about my Christmas parties here in Oz. I’ll start doing the latter until I hear from you.

There are days I tell Christine I’m going to get on a plane and fly over – just so I can slap her with a wet noodle.

So let’s all think about this for a minute. (I’m not trying to be “smart” with Christine – really – I’m just trying to get her out of her “waffle” stage) ;)

Yesterday I told Christine she needed to write a blog post on each one of these subjects:

  • Christmas Party
  • Christmas Lights
  • Popcorn popper
  • Scrabble
  • Candles
  • Lego

Of course she has long tail keywords for each of those subjects that she is “supposed” to be using.

For instance – Christine asked about “Christmas Party Supplies” or “Christmas Party Games”.

One of the principles of IPK is to write about specific products.   (We are here to sell stuff – right?)

You can go one of two ways (at least – but I’ll stick with two):

  1. Write about (waffle on) a Christmas party you have thrown yourself or attended – but be sure to include something in the story that “worked” or you found interesting or fun. Something that is related to a product.  A Product You Can Recommend With An Affiliate Link!
  2. Write about a specific product (from Amazon) that you think is a great idea for someone throwing a Christmas party.  Write an article in “product review” style.

Because Christine is still trying to find her style and voice… I get that she is trying to please the teacher.  She also might be a bit skittish because I’ve picked some of her work apart in the past.

This is not the time to be timid or skittish.  Write like a fiend and get the content published!  As much and as fast as you can.  The more words on a blog – the more chances you have for “getting found”.  Simple as that.

Christine’s blogs will all look terrible to the eye for a while.

We don’t care about that. Really!

We could all spend a month getting our sites to look perfect – and then worry about writing great content.

It will be too late! This is all about Christmas and Holiday SHOPPING.  I can make a site look pretty dog – gone good in a short time… but it takes a ton of time to write – write – write.

As a side note - I would not really concentrate my time heavily on writing about “parties” stuff.  I would spend the majority of my time writing about all the niche topics:

  • Christmas Lights
  • Popcorn popper
  • Scrabble
  • Candles
  • Lego

I have plenty of ideas to share with Christine… but I don’t want to overwhelm her with TMI (To Much Information) at one time.

p.s. Christine – you can also write an article or two about those R.C. things you were taking about last week. :)

Can I stop laughing now? Lucky we’ve got distance between us.

Okay, I have literally been dreaming about my websites the past couple of nights. My dream last night was very clear and I’ve worked out the ‘problem’ so post #2 is written. Ready to publish.

Sometimes it’s not about pleasing the teacher although there’s definitely a strong element of that, but I genuinely get stuck and confused. I over think things. Did you know that about me already? tee hee

Last night after sitting at the computer going ’round in circles’ I did start writing about Christmas parties. I’ll add it when I’ve finished.

Anyway, how’s this for taking the bull by the horns, I was going to get you to check my completed post before publishing, but I’m going to head over now and publish THEN get you to check it. It’s about candles and my site looks beautiful. lol

Thank goodness for humour.
