Wow… Is that the million dollar question? Or maybe it’s a thousand dollar or even $50 question… :0) Just today I read a blog post on Lynn Terry’s ClickNewz.com website by guest author Scott Tousignant that touched on this very subject.
First he asked “Are you in the black?”… which I thought meant “Are You Profitable In Your Home Business?”. I could answer (finally) Yes! I am profitable in my home business. It’s taken a bunch of hard work and a ton of time.
But… then I read that he was touching on a sensitive subject.
In order to achieve online success have you sacrificed your health and precious time with your family that you’ll never get back?
I do have my health – even as a baby boomer I feel pretty darn healthy. Not fit by any means… but that’s another story. Not only am I profitable but I am able to spend time with my family and make wonderful memories and still be “In the black”.
I’ve been taught over the years that I would have to sacrifice time (lot’s of it) to make enough headway in my internet marketing business to actually make enough money to make a significant dent in the family expense budget. To learn while you earn is a motto of most “newbie” marketers. You must also learn how to spend wisely or you will eat up any profit potential. Something that took me a while to learn is “spending wisely”.
It all sounded too perfect… being able to spend loads of time with my family, friends or just alone time… while still making money online. By making money… I mean make enough money over your expenses to be profitable.
I was also caught in the trap of working endless hours “doing it – doing it – doing it”… what ever I could do to make a buck. I was trying to figure out the best path… which meant going in multiple paths looking for the best results.
Scott tells that he was advised to “Stop trying so hard… stop trying to force it… the success will come – eventually”. LOL… who want’s to wait for “eventually”? Sacrifice seems like the only way… to let things just “work out” seems lazy, doesn’t it?
What Scott learned – and I did too – was that we need to learn to be productive… not just busy. If you are productive in fewer hours per day than “busy” all day long… you will make more money, have better relationships and essentially be happy!
It is a relief to say that You Are Profitable In Your Home Business. That is a given! I wish this had happened sooner in my online business… but it finally has. One of the biggest changes that pushed me over the hump was getting help.
I don’t mean outsourcing you work load (I do that as well)… what I really mean is – getting help from those that are already profitable.
Those that have “made it” in this business can help you get further – faster – and into the black. Lynn Terry gives so much on her blog… she helps everyone. Even if you are a complete newbie and don’t have the first clue where to start… make her your first stop. She will put you on the “fast track” in no time.
The Clicknewz blog and her weekly webinars are some of the best “free” help you will find from any “Guru”. I am now a member of the paid community as well. The Elite Members Community is where I go to find answers and get ideas to fast track my business.
Now that I’ve learned how to be “In The Black and Profitable” I am expanding the ideas that have worked for me to “Grow My Business”. I just don’t know if getting “fit” is in the future.

Hi Debra. I’m hangin’ to learn more from Lynn Terry. I’ve listened to her speaking and She is a no frills, say it as it is kinda gal. I like that a lot.
BUT, I’m not taking on anymore learning at the moment. Once my Blog Internship homework eases, then I’ll take on more, but I still can’t resist reading the odd snippets from her, You & others
See you at the ‘AA’ meeting today. lol
